About Instructors

None of the instructors are employed by us, they are all independant, self employed instructors. Once your deposit has been paid your details are then passed on to the instructor who will then contact you direct.

Instructors have to undergo a 3 part examination, firstly they have to take a theory test, this test is a lot longer and harder than the one you take as part of getting your own licence. Once they have passed this they then take the second part of the examination which is the practical driving test.

The practical driving test last for 1 hour and of course they are not allowed as many minor faults as you, being permitted a maximum of 6 minor faults. Once this has been passed they can then take the instructional ability examination. On succesful completion of this they can then advertise themselves as instructors and take payment for lessons.

Some schools use trainee instructors, these instructors have passed the first 2 examinations and completed the training for the 3rd part and are awaiting the instructional ability examination. But trainees need to work with a school and be subject to supervison at times.

Instructors are graded, 1 to 6, grades 1 to 3 are below the standard required, while grades 4 to 6 have reached the standard required. Fully qualified instructors will have a green D.S.A. badge like the one one the left of this page.

As we do not employ any instructors all the instructors we use are fully qualified.

All fully qualified instructors are subject to periodic check tests to ensure that they remain up to standard.

Be aware that should your instructor be a trainee and he or she fails the Part 3 examination after 3 attempts then will need to find another instructor as they will no longer be able to teach you.
